My Vision for New Westminster - Coquitlam - Port Moody

Helping the Homeless in our Region

Homelessness is not just a downtown Vancouver issue. We have very needy people in our midst, and the problem is growing. Through my work on the New Westminster Homelessness Coalition, I have come face-to-face with tough issues. I have also met the many dedicated people reaching out on the front lines, often with meagre resources.

The Conservative Party is committed to combating homelessness, and I believe I can make a difference by communicating the unique needs of our area to Ottawa. Working together in a collaborative and positive process we can deliver solutions and I believe I can make a difference.

The Economy

The Conservative Government has taken strong action to ensure that the shockwaves flowing from the global credit crisis and recession do not unduly harm Canada’s fundamentally strong economy. However, Conservatives know that the foundation of a prosperous society is a business environment that allows free enterprise to thrive. I am committed to ensuring New Westminster, Coquitlam and Port Moody does the best it can do to attract more investment, more businesses and more jobs.

Our region will benefit from a strong voice at the government table, and I want to be that voice. As a communications consultant, I know that we are competing with dozens of regions across Canada for attention, and we tell our story in a compelling and convincing way. I know our area and can tell our story effectively.

Transportation

Our region is a nexus of vehicular traffic flowing through Metro Vancouver. We need to find ways for commercial carriers to easily do their jobs in a way that does not degrade the livability of our neighbourhoods.

We need attention at the federal level to address the growing impact of commuter and truck traffic on New Westminster, Coquitlam and Port Moody. I will work very hard to ensure our voice is heard in Ottawa.
