Biography

Lorraine was born in Ottawa in 1960 and lived in greater Toronto before moving to Vancouver in 1973. A graduate of Prince of Wales High School (where she met her husband David Brett), Lorraine excelled in fine arts went on to study film and theater at Simon Fraser University while playing leading roles with Vancouver Little Theater.

The Senate Speaker's chambers where President Obama and Prime Minister Harper sat opposite each other during the US President's visit to Ottawa.

Married in 1980, Lorraine and David started a family in 1982 and now have three grown boys. Lorraine and David have lived in New Westminster for 15 years.

While her children were young, Lorraine dedicated herself to their success in school and sports. She was a representative of the Herbert Spencer PAC, helped with the Community Schools initiative and for three years was a parent group facilitator with Surrey Community Services.

In 1996 Lorraine’s interest in TV and film production was rekindled and she volunteered with Rogers Community Television where she was the co-producer, writer, and host of “Plugged In!” a magazine style program that covered the people and issues of the cities of Surrey, Langley, Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows.

Lorraine's experiences as media producer were a stepping stone to her current profession as a Media Relations consultant. She has represented technology businesses in the realm of knowledge management, intellectual capital management, Citizen Relationship Management and natural language processing.

Lorraine was the Communications Director for the 2008 federal election campaign of New Westminster – Coquitlam - Port Moody Conservative Candidate Yonah Martin.

Lorraine has also worked in corporate relocations, where Lorraine has helped nearly 100 executives and professionals (including a number of Vancouver Canucks players!), to settle in Greater Vancouver.

Lorraine’s passion for her community and leadership skills have led her to a wide variety of roles and responsibilities, including:
